Ideas to display your photos in your home…

May 7, 2018 | Fine Art School Portraits, Kids photos, School Photo Day

In the world we live, everything is online, our photos are viewed on our phones and lets face it, hardly ever printed. I’m guilty of this too! But the thing is, is it really a photo if its not printed? So here are some ideas to display your photos in your home.

YOU’VE GOT THE PRINTS – NOW WHAT?

So you’ve had a photoshoot and the prints you ordered have arrived; woohoo! But for all your good intentions they still found their way into the back of the kitchen drawer! You are not alone….it happens to us all.

I’M HERE TO HELP!

Nowadays, there are so many printing options available to us to display our photos…..be it prints, canvases, photobooks, wood, metal, glass….the possiblilities are endless. This being said, I have a few firm favourites.

I love simple frames for prints, B&W canvases and storytelling photobooks.

SIMPLE | MODERN | FRAMES

For my fine art kids portraits, I use a plain black background and take close up headshots of the kids. I want the star of the show to be the childs face and their cute expressions…..to do this I use a plain black background to avoid any distractions from the child. To set off these simple and timeless prints, I’d mount it with a white surround and pop it into a black frame. Simple, timeless and elegant.

B&W CANVASES TO DISPLAY YOUR PHOTOS

If you’ve ever seen my instagram feed, you’ll know I have a real soft spot for black and white photos. I just love them and if I’m printing canvases for myself then 9 times out of 10 they will be in black & white.

STORYTELLING PHOTOBOOKS

Photos tell a story and what better way to tell your families story than through a personalized photobook of your images. It can take pride of place on the coffee table or bookshelf to be shared time and again with family and friends when they visit.

HOW CUTE ARE THESE TWO

Next week, I’ll be sharing some wall gallery ideas…..
